Jaco Beach nightlife
When you need a break from the green felt, it's easy to find fun in Jaco. Jaco Beach is the one of Costa Rica's biggest party towns. There are numerous bars, restaurants and discos all along the main strip.
One of the coolest places in town is the Monkey Bar owned by a local ex pat poker player and surfer named Jason. The Monkey Bar is a great afterhours place where you can quench your thirst in the warm Pacific nights. By the way, don't ever ask Jason to chop in a cash game, he likes to play.
The Disco La Central is packed every night of the high season. La Central is right on the beach near the south end of town. There's a huge open-air hall that features the requisite 1970s flashing lights and suspended mirrored ball, as well as a garden bar in a thatch-roofed building that's a slightly quieter place to have a drink.
For a more casual atmosphere, head to either the world famous Beatle Bar, where you will find lots of friendly local people wanting to mingle.
Another place to try is the Onyx Bar. Both are located right on the main drag in town.
Jaco has a couple adult nightclubs as well.
Sports freaks can catch the latest games at Hotel Copacabana, Hotel Poseidon, or El Zarpe. The latter serves up good, reasonably priced burritos, burgers, and other assorted bar food.
