When we came up with the concept of the WPS, we saw a void that needed to be filled for more affordable and fun tournaments. We wanted to do something different than what was being done with all the mega poker tournaments that have sprouted up all around the world. So we created WPS to be affordable poker fun and sun for poker fans. We' use world-class, professional staffing and regulations, but make the events fun and affordable.
Producing poker tournament events on cruise ships and in land-based casinos, our events are filled with fun and excitement. Our poker events target the tournament and no limit cash game lovers of mainstream America.
We realize that players from North and South America, as well as Europe, have a love affair with poker tournaments, and we schedule several Caribbean poker tournaments during the course of the year. Our philosophy is very simple. Our tournaments are fun. We want to provide what our players need to have a fun week with us playing the game we all love and getting to know other lovers of the game. We want to produce fun-filled poker events that are affordable and offer generous prize pools, all in a warm, tropical, and relaxing location.
Our first two poker cruises in 2005 were very successful. We were proud to have some poker royalty on each of our poker cruises, namely 2003 World Champion Chris Moneymaker in February, and 2004 World Champion Greg Raymer in December. In 2006, we were happy to produce WPS poker tournaments in such exciting destinations as St. Maarten and Costa Rica. In 2008, we are happy to add the Dominican Republic and Panama to our tour.
Since our inception, WPS has worked with CI Travel to handle the travel and hotel reservations for our players. By using our online hotel reservation system, you will be using our special mix of online convenience and travel agency service. You will see their contact number all over the website. To reserve your best room or cabin, we always suggest you make your reservations as far in advance as possible.
We have plenty of new features on the WPS website this year. Our events are now organized into the WPS 2008 Caribbean Poker Tour, at the conclusion of which we will crown a WPS 2008 Player of the Year. Panama and Dominican Republic have been added as destinations. We have added complete information on all our destinations. As described above, we now have online hotel booking on our site. How about an informative WPS Blog to keep our players updated on what's happening behind-the-scenes. Also new in 2008 is our convenient online registration form to reserve your spot in each of the tournaments. Using these forms will save you time at the actual venue, so you can spend more time working on that tan or jet skiing in the turquoise Caribbean waters.
